Dear Author,

Before we start, hi and thanks for writing something for me. I feel like I should apologise for the length of this letter (I tend to ramble, and I'm never sure how much detail would be useful), but don't feel like you have to slog through it. I know I'm really uneven in length but some of these canons are much bigger than the others, or I wanted to offer prompts which could do for a much larger cast of characters, so length should not be taken as an indication that I'm more interested in some fandoms than others. No matter what fandom we matched on, I'd be really excited to see fic written for it and I can't wait to see what you'll do (so what I mine by this is, basically,  if none of my prompts here work for you but you do have an idea which you think would be much better, feel free to write it! Most of these fandoms are small enough that I really do want anything!)

I was gonna sock it up for these requests, and then I realized that I was too lazy and also not particularly invested in keeping my porn-reading habits away from the rest of my fic-reading habits. This means that I do speak extensively about sex and porn, as I am requesting Corruption of Champions, but rest assured that I mean it when I talk about the not-porn and not-necessarily-romance tropes I also love. Please do not feel that I am trying to indicate I only want porn, or want porn more than I want the other things, or that I will only be happy with porn, because that's just not true!

General notes

Please don't write anything which features non-canonical sexual abuse of children. Underage sexual relationships (defined in my country as sex with someone under the age of 16, but I know some places disagree) isn't a squick for me as long as everyone involved is about 14/15, but I would ask not to receive anything about something younger than that. I know, of course, that it's canon in Defendor - I'm fine with the way Kat's abuse at the hands of her father is referenced in canon, and I do think it really shapes a lot of how she relates to the world. Any references to abuse in Defendor which are dealt with the way canon deals it (nothing graphic, very understated, Kat fighting to make herself sound nonchalant about it and hold herself together in the hospital scene when she does voice it, and the revenge fantasy Arthur plays out for her) are fine - I can handle the way canon deals with it just fine, so consistency with that tone isn't going to be a problem!

Likes
  • Weird AUs or twists on common AU tropes. For example, I'm not interested in getting something where Kat and Arthur are students at Hogwarts together, but I would definitely be all over a fic where Arthur was one of the castle's living paintings. Or a CoC coffee shop AU would not be my cup of tea, but a fic where characters think they're in a coffee shop but are actually trapped inside an illusion? Probably the greatest thing ever.
  • On that point, as you can probably guess from my fandoms, I really love ambiguity and things left unsaid narratives which never quite become explicit or things where you can never tell what things mean. This obviously applies to some fandoms more than others, but yeah, for me, that sort of weirdness is very much a feature and not a bug.
  • That means I have a great love of identity porn, and games of hidden/secret identities. Again, I know some people don't like these things but I really can't get enough of them as narrative tropes.
  • I read gen, het, slash and femslash, and although I tend to gravitate towards f/f or gen as a rule I'm fine with getting any combination. When it comes to the use of background pairings, I'm fine - feel free to use canon or non-canon pairings as you see fit, as long as it doesn't overtake the fic about whoever we matched on.
  • Horror/creepiness not through the gore and things being shown but what is implied. The slowly-dawning realization that Something Is Not Right, and all the moments when it looks as though understanding is almost there but not quite.
  • Narrative kinks I enjoy which could conceivably be used to create not-porn: Rivals who respect (and/or, wanna bang) one another, questfic, worldbuiding, canon-typical violence, monsters, hurt-comfort, casefic and romance. Anything where people demonstrate competence/enthusiasm for a field of expertise. Mind-control. Slow burn/epic/'in the stars' romance, especially for my f/f ships. I fall in love with characters who get really passionate about what they love, and anything where I get to see more of that dynamic is wonderful.
  • Stuff which I believe implies porn but I could be wrong: topping from the bottom, bondage, kinking on control and the loss thereof (both physical control and control as an interpersonal/social thing), D/s, manipulation, hatesex, competitive sex, frottage.
Dislikes (and some things I don't really dislike, per se, just don't want to get this Yuletide):
  • Scripts, or fic which is entirely dialogue.
  • Domesticity in the sense of kidfic, marriage + babies ever after, and fluffy pregnancies. I am, however, OK with the mix of kinky body horror and plain kinky pregnancy Corruption of Champions dabbles in, but that's really the only kind which doesn't squick me. Like the stuff I had to say about sexual abuse above, though, I don't have a problem with (and like enough to request!) the source so the canon-typical tone is perfectly fine if you're worried about something you've written.
  • Blow jobs performed on a penis. Cunnilingus is more than welcome, giving a blow job to a strap-on is wonderful, but please don't write about mouth-penis contact. (Oh, and if we matched on CoC, ovipositors and the like do not squick me if you wanted to write about people using their mouths on them.)
  • Crossovers, fusions and common AUs which don't do the whole bait-and-switch thing I said I enjoyed.
  • When I have indicated that I ship A/B, I would rather not receive noncon fic where A rapes B.
  • Incest, humiliation, scat, necrophilia and bestiality.
I think I'm done digging deep into my fic loves/dislikes for now, but I hope that gives you, if not a rich seam of ideas to mine for fic-potential, at least some idea of what I might like. If I've explained something poorly, then feel free to ask for clarification/elaboration through the mods or here, anon or via a sock. And now, onto the fandoms!

CANDLE COVE
[source: here]
Character(s) Requested: Any

I used to love this show when I was a kid - my dad had a bunch of episodes on VHS and at some point a TV station must have started airing it again because I know I tried to get my brother into it. I asked, and he says that he remembers playing Candle Cove but he didn't know it was based on a show - oh well, I'm glad other people still remember it. :)

Anything which captures the tone of the original would be absolutely brilliant, how it feels so familiar and so eerie all at the same time. The world of Candle Cove (and the story of Candle Cove!) has so much potential to be fascinating and weird and horrific and nostalgic all at once. I'm a big fan of the slow-build sort of creep factor, especially the kind with that real inevitability where it seems as though you can almost grasp the meaning, but anything which doesn't rely on gore is interesting. I think this would be the perfect fandom for worldbuilding (was the Cove a real place, or a wholly imaginary one? who can see it, and how does it appear to different people? how did everyone reach the Cove, and how do people find it? what kind of mythology does it have, and how does it affect the children who find it?), and if that isn't your thing, then I'd also love to read about some adult discovering Candle Cove or trying to find the Cove they knew from their childhood as a grown-up, whether that adult is Janice or an OC. Feel free to use any characters, both nominated and not-nominated, if you want.

CORRUPTION OF CHAMPIONS
[source: here]
Character(s) Requested: Urta (but I would be equally happy with fic about Amily, The Gargoyle, Ro'Gar, Whitney, Essrayle, The Champion and/or Marble if you would rather write one of those).

Corruption of Champions is a text-based adventure game. You play The Champion, a hero who travels to another realm filled with sex and basically just more sex, and finds themselves affected on a number of levels by the world around them. All of those levels are probably porn.

I really enjoy how this game doesn't take itself seriously. It's just silly, porny silliness, and that light-hearted tone is what stops me from finding the world so skeevy I can't continue so I'd love to read something with the same tone. I know that sexual violence is built into the mechanics of the world so yeah, if we matched on this then feel free to ignore the stuff I say above about not liking non con - I still wouldn't enjoy a story about how Rape And Sexual Assault Is Terrible, but the canon-typical sorts of non con are fine. I wouldn't consider anthro- porn to be bestiality because of how un-animalistic their personalities and minds all are. Basically, everything apart from necrophilia (unless the corpse is animated, like in the case of a vampire), scat and child abuse are no longer squicks when I play this game because of how much fun the game is having. The mouth-penis thing still stands, though.

First of all, characters! I think all of these characters are just brilliant but I'm selecting Urta here because I don't want to have to write out a list of character-based prompts for every single one of these characters. If you already have a story in mind you'd like to write for a different character - or if you think one of these prompts would work just fine for one of the others - then feel free to go ahead and write that one instead.

This is not to imply I would not be excited to receive Urta fic! Indeed, nothing could be further from the truth - I have a real soft spot for characters who are insecure about something they try to hide and then it eventually becomes a real source of pride, and Urta and her giant horse-cock certainly fit that bill. So any moment of self-discovery or something, one of those little steps along the way when Urta does start becoming more confident, would be really sweet. I found her relationship with Edryn to be oddly charming, and the idea of the City Guard really intrigued me - I'd love to see more of their relationship, either as guard partners or as client/prostitute, and how they deal with being both for one another. I also enjoyed Urta's relationship with The Champion and with Amily, but really, any pairing would be great.

When it comes to story prompts, adventure stories are great! Sexy adenture stories are even better. Maybe a goblin attacks and needs to be fought off, maybe there's a sudden horrifying whiskey shortage which needs to be fixed. No matter what, if canon has taught me anything it's that all problems will eventually be resolved by sex, and that is awesome. Anything where characters have to work through their personal issues in order to accomplish some shared goal is a bulletproof narrative kink of mine, so I'd also love seeing a situation where Urta was forced to work with Amily (in order to rescue The Champion, maybe?) or another rival. I also think this fandom is perfect for any slightly cracky, super tropey plot excuses for fucking - any Aliens Made Them Do It, Sex Pollen and Fuck Or Die tropes you can name would be absolutely fantastic. I'm not really invested in the canon's sex scenes for the porniness of it all, I kind of view them as part of this wonderful crackiness, so any kinks you can think of would be fine. If you're curious, though, I am particularly intrigued by the references to petplay in canon and would like to see something which expanded on that more - not even necessarily in the kinky sense, I just found it cool that Urta was the one with the collar and the plan to make the human her pet.

One of the things that I found really striking was how the game used kinks to really expand on different characters' personalities while also kinking on them, and what I liked about the petplay image was how Urta (hesitantly at first) places herself in the dominant role and The Champion as the 'animal', especially seeing as how she hated so much about her own body. I don't know, but it seemed quite meaningful for her that it was The Champion who would adopt the much more animalistic characteristics while she, the owner, took care of them as one would an animal? I also thought it tied in nicely with her exhibitionism, how the blowjobs under the table at The Wet Bitch would boost her confidence in her body and how as that increased she'd start showing it off more. I don't know, I've said before that I love the game because it doesn't take itself seriously, but I still think that it treats all its characters with a lot of affection and really like how it uses kinkiness as a means to demonstrate character development or particular conflicts. I guess I'm just a sucker for sex which is really emotional meaningful, not necessarily because of how you feel towards your partner but more because of how you feel about yourself?

The Demon Realm is filled with so many fascinating things (from the factory to the sand witches to all the monsters) that really, anything which explored some of the politics and history would also be fabulous. Tel'Adre being a sort of haven from the rest of the corruption was really interesting, and I loved seeing Urta fight to keep it that way, so any sort of quest fic about fending off demons or trying to keep Tel'Adre concealed would be fantastic.

Or, you know, porn. Just gonna leave that on the table. I particularly like The Champion's relationships with Urta, Ro'Gar and The Gargoyle. Urta's other relationships I  found interesting were with Edryn and Amily, but really there is no combination of sexual partners which would not both make sense and make me happy.

DEFENDOR
[putlocker streaming: here]
Character(s) Requested: Any

In this movie, a man with some cognitive impairment (Arthur) adopts the superhero identity of Defendor to hunt down the supervillain "Captain Industry" (based on a misunderstanding about 'captains of industry') who he blames for his mother's death. Along the way, he tries to save Angel (aka Kat), crosses paths with crooked cops and drug kingpins and finds himself in legal trouble.

I  know some people had a problem with the tension between the slapstick bee-fighting and then the much darker elements, but it really worked for me - I think I just have a very morbid sense of humour, and having Arthur try to play so many superhero tropes straight in a world which just did not want to let him was both hilarious and heartbreaking in all the best possible ways. When it comes to relationships, I ship Kat/Arthur romantically but also as the sort of 'partners in crime vigilantism' sense. I wouldn't like to receive Ellen/Arthur, but Ellen/Kat or gen would be wonderful too.

The ending worked for me but oh, so very sad. Some kind of canon-divergent AU where Arthur didn't die and he and Kat sailed off into the sunset, being fabulous superheroes with one another would be fantastic; so too would anything about Kat or Ellen after Arthur's death - I really loved how Kat did become a writer in the end, and how Defendor got to live on in her stories (just like Lois Lane!) but I was also really intrigued by how Ellen showed up at the Defendor memorial with the little girl, so post-canon things are fine too. I'd really love to see anything about Kat's stories and how she remakes a life for herself after Arthur's death, or Ellen and her daughter speaking about heroes, if you're going to go there - but I wouldn't want Arthur's importance to both of them to be forgotten, really. I wouldn't like the sort of deathfic which lingers over the grief and loss, because I think of the death as being a really heroic one which is so important because it's transformational  - Arthur couldn't be Defendor in life, but he becomes Kat's hero by attacking her father and becomes that sort of quasi-legendary figure through her writing, so it's like his death lets him finally enter the superhero story he's been trying to be a part of his whole life. And for Kat, particularly, who just lost the only person to really care about her in such a horrible way, Arthur dying is still hugely important because it means she can become his Lois Lane or his John Burne; their 'I love you' moment was horrible and perfect for the two of them so if you set anything after the death, I'd really love if how importance Arthur was to the characters still shone through.

That said, I'd also be interested in seeing things set before this moment. For Arthur, I'd love some more Defendor backstory - maybe his first attempts to create a costume or some weaponry went even worse than the bees? Anything about the stuff he tried but didn't work would be lovely, as would something about a much younger Arthur trying to practice superheroism while he was still a kid or teenager. More of his origin story would be great! I would absolutely adore seeing more of his relationship with Kat unfolding, from the way she initially dismisses Defendor but wants so badly to believe in heroes and tries to use him only to wind up caring so much for him, and from how he has no idea what to do with someone so smart and funny and damaged in a way he doesn't really understand but tries to figure something out anyway and ends up with the greatest sidekick/Lois Lane. If you do go the AU route, then Defendor getting a sidekick or co-superhero (I cannot see Kat ever referring to herself as the Robin to his Batman but the way she's so proud of herself for getting the tapes for him does make me think she'd be a pretty cool Alfred) would be the most amazing thing.

I wouldn't want backstory for Kat about the time before she meets Arthur, because I know that's going to break my heart, but futurefic is wonderful. Anything which deals with the themes of redemption/reclamation, as she lets Defendor be the hero people needed and moves through her guilt for hurting Arthur, would be fantastic as well, and I'd also love to see something which expanded on the moments where she's reluctantly starting to care for Arthur and wants to believe in heroes but just can't bring herself to do so. Maybe something more about her fetching things for him, like the videos, and geeking out over the bees? Or maybe Kat starting to think about heroes and villains and how she could make a space for herself in that sort of world? I don't mind reading about her drug abuse, but I'd rather not receive something where her addiction/recovery was the plot - if it ties into the superhero aspects, or her relationship with Arthur though, then that could be really cool. If we are going AU, then I'd also like to know if their relationship ever became openly romantic. I know some people didn't enjoy how Kat became Arthur's damsel in distress but I really loved that, partly because the whole film works as Kat's origin story as one of the 'heroic people who are not superheroes' the film discusses and partly because I think her relationship with Arthur kind of corrects the expectations she should have been able to have as a child, that she is worthy of care and protection, and I think that Arthur needed to try and save her before she could try to save herself. On the other hand, I'd also be happy with anything where their relationship was platonic or more ambiguous.

For Ellen, I love how she's so matter-of-fact about Arthur's beliefs even when she doesn't quite understand them, and think her ending and the conversation about Kat's dad made it clear that she thought of Defendor as a hero. I wondered about her relationship to her little girl, whether the ending meant that she was telling her child about Arthur as a real hero or if she still couldn't adopt the superhero language Arthur used but wanted to make the point about good people who do extraordinary things. The scenes where she's trying to assess Arthur are hilarious and wonderful, and I'd like to see more of them, or maybe something where she and Kat speak to one another post-canon, either on a professional level or a personal one.

If you'd like to go setting AU, I wouldn't really care for a straight superhero AU for this story - what I like best is that Arthur keeps trying to make his life work like a superhero comic even though it just can't, and playing that idea straight wouldn't be my cup of tea. Twists on common superhero comics tropes, either those we already see in canon or not, are more than welcome though (for example, the hero not really having been dead, or how someone was mind-controlled/a Skrull/not really themselves) and I'd enjoy reading an AU where instead of superheroes, Arthur had latched onto some other genre (film noir, maybe, or magical girl shows?) and how that would have changed his life.

SCOOBY DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED
[streaming: here]
Character(s) Requested: Angel Dynamite|Cassidy Williams (but would also be happy with Velma and/or Hot Dog Water)

I cannot sing the praises of this show high enough. It's such a fantastic addition to the Scooby Doo franchise, and it's all done with such affection and nostalgia for the older versions of the show while still putting its own (highly original!) stamp on the story, and I just love everything about it. The constant references and shoutouts to other sorts of media, the parodies (ask me how much I love Professor Hatecraft, ask me!) and the deadpan humour are all amazing, and I really like how dark the show was prepared to go at times.

For that reason, I'm requesting Cassidy fic this year. Her death was one of the things that really struck me as dark-dark, and even though I know it doesn't quite compare to the finale, it worked so well in setting up a lot of the conflict that would come. I loved Cassidy the mentor with the mysterious past, Cassidy who might have been working for the antagonists, Cassidy who was a badass spy, Cassidy who used to be the old Velma, but it was the way the show handled her death which made her one of my favourite characters. As you can probably guess, I love how she's got that real sense of performance about her (especially as Angel Dynamite, which makes a lot of sense!) and how she occupies a lot of different roles at the same time, so anything about the way she reconciles these different ways of being Cassidy would be fantastic. On that note, the costumes! We saw her remake herself in S2 (and holy shit, was she hot) but I guess I'd like to know what she was thinking - even her colour palette is the opposite; she moves from the light, bright green colours to deep red, and I wondered if that was meant to be about her trying to turn her back on who she used to be? Angel's costumes, with the bright green and then the pink details sort of brings the two costumes together - little Cassidy in the green dress and older Cassidy in the red suit - so I don't know if it's as straightforward as that contrast, though. I also love the hints we see of her ninja badassery, and I would absolutely adore anything where I could see any adventures in that vein.

I really loved the vibes of creepy mentor figure we got, especially from her relationship to Fred and Velma, and even though I know that she was trying to care for the group the way she used that little hand on Velma's back to bug her was just brilliantly creepy. For that reason, anything which explored her relationship to the group (Fred and Velma in particular, as Fred is implied to spend a lot of time at hers rather than go home when he's upset and Velma because of how they keep Cassidy's secret from the others) would be wonderful. If you did want to go the pairing route for her, I'm particularly interested in Cassidy/Velma, with the mentoring and challenging one another and educating Velma in the ways of being a badass spy (she had to get the skills she and Marcie used for Mr E from somewhere, after all!) would be brilliant. So too would Cassidy/Ricky, either post-Nibiru or in the main timeline with all the shades of regret and antagonism and divided loyalties would be amazing.

When it comes to background relationships, Fred/Daphne are lovely together and I ship Velma/Marcie really intensely. As I said above, if you did get stuck on a Cassidy-centric fic then I would not be disappointed at all to receive something more about Velma and/or Marcie instead - the way they relate to one another as their relationship does the rivals-to-science-girlfriends development, their spy shenanigans with Mr E and how Marcie turns her back on that for Velma's sake, anything in the new universe where Marcie has to deal with a Velma who doesn't have the same history with her anymore and Velma has to deal with having heard Marcie die to save her, are all endlessly fascinating to me as possibilities. I also love Velma's relationship with her mom and with her parents' business, how they make a living off selling the beliefs Velma works to untangle and how there's still so much love and affection between them, so anything about the Dinkley family would be the best.

SNARK BUSTERS SERIES
[cannot find a free online source for the games but there are torrents available if you need them]
Character(s) Requested: Any

If you don't know, the Snark Busters series is a sort of hidden object puzzle game. Each game is part of an overarching plot - characters are invited to join a very secret society, which hunts an elusive creature called the Snark - but it also has its own story: Kira is a young gentlewoman whose father is mortified by her increasingly daring stunts, Jack is a race-car driver whose uncle left to chase after the Snark, and Elizabeth needs to save her fiance from being imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. They can enter parallel worlds through mirrors, and travel between mirror worlds to reach new destinations on these journeys which look really personal to them - like how Jack drives along a road as he advances towards the Snark.

It's because of that I never really know how to look at the series. On the one hand, it's a fairly simple story - solve the puzzles to move from one place to the other. And on the other, it kind of seems like there should be more symbolism there than I'm seeing - the mechanisms of Snark busting are so steeped in symbols of each main character that each game feels like it's saying something more about who they are. I know I'm just overthinking this but it looks like the subconscious of each person changes a lot in the mirror world - we know symbolism does, but I guess Jack's road and Elizabeth's camera, things like that, suggest that people shape that space in ways they don't realize.

Anyway, prompts! I'd love to see some more wacky adventures for any of the characters in this game - do any of them ever manage to even catch sight of the Snark? Do they run into one another somehow, or have more contact with the other Snark Busters? I'm imagining some sort of club meeting for the group, where everyone speaks about the places their adventures have taken them and what they could learn, and would definitely welcome anything cracky. If everything looks different to one another, and there's that strong subconscious drive, is it even possible to enter the same place as someone else? I'd be ecstatic to read about people experimenting with this sort of thing and trying to figure out how the connections between these places work, even if they didn't end up with any firm answers (or more questions than they'd started with).

If you're interested in more character specific prompts, then I loved how much Elizabeth was fighting for her fiance so anything which dealt with their relationship (and how he reacted to learning the details of her adventures) would be fantastic. I was frustrated by Kira's relationship with her father, and how she let him think she'd been kidnapped for so long, so any sort of post-canon reconciliation where they work on understanding one another better would be lovely, but so would Kira continuing to make a dreadful nuisance out of herself. I loved that she was so unafraid to be a dick in the names of showing off, so more pranks now that she has these powers at her disposal would be incredible. For Jack, I'd love to see his motoring skills being put to use - the car and the robot dog and the whole steampunky aesthetic were all really interesting for me. Equally, anything where any combination of the three meet and sort of recognize that they know about this other world would be good.

OK, I think that's everything. Sorry if that's not particularly coherent, and I hope you have a great Yuletide yourself!
